JUNE

June 9th, Sail Fest & Family Fun Day ... This is the non-motorized water sports show/event in the Inland NW. We are focused on highlighting the exciting, economical, and environmentally friendly non-motorized water sports. Participants of this event can try out sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc. via local clubs, dealers, and manufactures. Also includes fun family fun activities within the Coeur d'Alene City Park. This is one all day event.
  Where: Coeur d'Alene Independance Point Beach & City Park, Coeur d'Alene Idaho. Requirements: Must wear a Life Jacket at all times while on the water. No age requirement, however all minors must be supervised by their legal guardian. No requirements to access the city park family fun activities. Registration: No registration fees, however one must register at the venue booth and sign a release of liability form. Contact: Email Miles Moore at accesstooutdoors@gmail.com for more information. June 10th, The Outdoor Recreation Experience event is an opportunity to get involved with sailing (including adaptive/accessible), fishing, handcycling, archery, and kayaking/canoeing. The event also consists of a BBQ social at noon. This inclusive event is for participants and family members - all are invited and welcome. Motorized boats are not allowed.

JULY

TBA, MARINE ACCESSIBILITY PROJECT.... We will be having several marine and non marine access project starting in July and so on. Mostly what we will need is volunteers to rake, shovel, dig, etc. Stay tuned as we will be posting these projects shortly.

8, Spokatopia... See FunToSail at Spokatopia, a one-day outdoor adventure festival along the Spokane River. Outdoor enthusiasts and their families can try outdoor activities like sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking, disc golf, rock climbing and mountain biking; learn about and try other outdoor activities, products and gear at vendor booths; and enjoy fun, creative entertainment including music, freeride bike stunts and local brews. Live entertainment.

29-30, SKI AND SAIL FEST... This event is focused on adaptive/accessible water skiing and sailing (sailing on the 29th only). Come prepared to get wet in gear that keeps you warm and floating. For more info see contact info below.

DECEMBER

Date TBA, US Sailing Adaptive Sailing Workshop... The Adaptive Sailing Instructor Workshop covers all aspects of setting up, and teaching, an adaptive sailing program. Topics include: Facility requirements, disability types/populations, breaking down barriers to participation, safety requirements, volunteer/staff training and a detailed overview of how to correctly adapt your equipment (or what equipment is available to purchase). A heavily interactive course, attendees will go through a variety of exercises to help them better understand what’s required to teach sailors with disabilities.

Where: This is a three day, 21 hour course in Hayden Idaho. Requirements: Candidates must hold either a current US Sailing Smallboat Level 1 or Basic Keelboat Instructor Certification. The Adaptive Sailing Resource Manual will be the text for this course. Registration: Registration is on a pay first basis. US Sailing will not reserve spots without full payment. Contact: Email Miles Moore at accesstooutdoors@gmail.com for registration information. Cost: The course registration fee is as follows: $350 if received more than four (4) weeks prior to course start date; $370 if received within four (4) weeks of course start date; $420 if received within one (1) week of course start date. Course fees are nonrefundable but are transferable to another US Sailing course/date if the Training office is given enough notice: More than four weeks before the course start date: Fee is transferable to another course. Within the four week of course start date: ½ half of course fee is transferable to another course. Less than 24 hours notice of course start date (or no-show): 100% of the course fee is forfeited.
